CONSTITUTIONAL LAW

WHAT DO YOU UNDERSTAND BY CONSTITUTIONAL LAW?

The Constitution of India is really comprehensive and unique. It makes sure that no institutions in India act unfairly. The constitutional courts play a crucial role in keeping a check on how different institutions work, which helps maintain the rule of law in India. The Constitution sets out the rules for how the country should be run. It tells us how the government should be organized, what it can and can’t do, and what the citizens’ rights and responsibilities are. It’s like the top boss that everyone follows. The Constitution was created by a special group of people called the Constituent Assembly and was approved by the people. They all agreed that every institution should work according to these rules. The Constitution of India was adopted on 26th November 1949 and became effective on 26th January 1950, and it was mainly designed by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

CONSTITUTIONAL LAW COVERS:

Constitutional law covers a wide range of important topics in India. It deals with things like the country and its borders, who’s considered a citizen, your fundamental rights and responsibilities, principles that guide the government, the different parts of the country like states and territories, the legal system, local governments, and more. It also covers how the central and state governments work together, money matters, legal cases, trade and business, government jobs, special rules for specific groups, official and regional languages, and what happens in emergencies.

Here’s how it works: Parliament and state legislatures make the rules, the government carries them out, and special courts interpret the Constitution. While Parliament can change the Constitution, there are some core rules that can’t be changed, no matter what, as stated in Article 368.
